Save a life and become a Doe Eyes foster parent

Doe Eyes foster volunteers are a vital part of our mission. For our rehoming process, fosters provide temporary housing for Doe Eyes animals while we find their furever homes. The more fosters we have, the more lives we save. Can you be one of those people? Please apply today to become a foster. You must live in the DMV area to be a foster.

Doe Eyes Foster Application

What to expect from Doe Eyes while you foster…

We will be in communication with you often, and we do weekly check-ins. How are things going, how is the animal, how are you both acclimating etc. This is probably the most important thing! Please know that it is expected that you respond to our texts and calls. This won’t be 24/7 or excessive, but we do want to have an open line of communication with one another.

We cover medical expenses and make appointments through our designated vets. If you notice your foster animals experiencing any medically concerning symptoms contact us immediately. We will let you know if emergency vet care is required otherwise we will set up an appointment with OUR vet. Medical costs are covered by Doe Eyes, but MUST be scheduled through us.

If you foster for us, you’re apart of the team and an extension of us. We’re a family. If you have questions, concerns, feedback, all the things- we’re here for it. We’re here to support you to ensure your foster has a loving and nurturing environment while we find them a furever home.

What to expect as a foster parent…

We ask our foster homes communicate with us! This is probably the most important thing! We will check in multiple times a week, if not daily! Please know that it is expected that you respond to our texts and calls. This won’t be 24/7 or excessive, but do want to have an open line of communication with one another. We are very involved with making sure, especially for kittens as sick as these, that our animals and foster families are doing alright!

You are highly encouraged to use any and all forms of social media to get the word out about your foster. Being a foster means you are an extension of our rescue, and a part of the team! Strike a pose, take a selfie, post videos, the works. Let’s get these babies adopted!

The animals belong to Doe Eyes. If you decide later on you would like to adopt, let us know and we can send you the paperwork. If you know of someone who wants to adopt, send them our way to go through our adoption process, but feel free to answer any and all questions they might have about the particular animal you are fostering! You will not be responsible for making any decisions about their adoptive families, that will remain Doe Eyes representatives responsibility- but please send people our way if you know of anyone who is interested in adopting.

You may be required to transport them to and from medical appointments, or to the sanctuary. We will coordinate with you and your schedule before hand and make sure the times work for you! We won’t spring anything on you unless of course an emergency arises.

Litter, food, toys, bedding, and any daily supplies will be provided by you. Please only apply if you are willing to be financially responsible for these things. We are a very small run sanctuary and rescue and our foster homes are a part of our team and family that allow us to successfully rescue animals! With foster families loving homes, and donations towards supplies for the foster animals they take in, we are able to continue rescuing! This is why fostering is SO important! It not only allows us to rescue as many animals as possible because of space and donations provided, but it also provides the foster animals with more one on one love and care. We cannot stress enough how essential and wonderful fostering is!

Daily snuggles and love to your foster animals required! We know, it’s rough!
