Helpful tips

  • Imagine the perfect animal, and then lower that expectation to something reasonable. Unicorns don’t exist, but your furry companion will love you forever.
  • Remember some animals have been through the ringer, their personalities don’t always shine through until they realize they are safe and in a loving home.
  • Rely and trust in the experts, and be as honest as you can. The support from Doe Eyes will go a long way.

Questions to ask yourself

  • If you are adopting a dog, are you being realistic about the time and energy you have to dedicate to walking your dog every day and making sure they get exercise?
  • If you are adopting a cat, do you have room for two litter boxes?
  • Who else lives in the home? Everyone deserves to be happy, make sure you find the right animal that is a fit for them too
  • Think about the future – are you willing to make sure your fur companion stays with you no matter what?
